FMM Perak 39th Annual Dinner

FMM Perak held its 39th Annual Dinner on August 3, 2007 at the Impiana Casuarina, Ipoh. Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri DiRaja Haji Mohamad Tajol Rosli Bin Ghazali, Menteri Besar Perak was the Guest-of-Honour.

Yang Amat Berhormat Menteri Besar, in his speech, agreed to form PEMUDAH in Perak and appointed the Branch Chairman and the State Secretary as Co-Chairmen. The Branch was also asked to propose six (6) members for the private sector.

The Branch was also tasked to obtain feedback from industries whether the runaway for the Ipoh Airport should be extended or consider building a new airport at Seri Iskandar. On the other hand, he did stress several times that it would be far more practical and economical to build a new airport.

The Branch Chairman, Mr. Gan Tack Kong, in his address, highlighted the following:

• The ICT & Technology Resource Centre at the FMM Perak Branch Library commenced operation in Mid July 2007.
  
• The Branch conveyed its deep appreciation to the State Government for limiting the increase in quit rent for industries to 30% per sq meter for the year 2006 and 2007.
  
• The Branch also conveyed its appreciation to Yang Amat Berhormat for his commitment to expand natural gas to more industries in Perak. Unfortunately there is a shortage of natural gas at this moment and that it would only be available in 2010 under the Ninth Malaysia Plan.
  
• As Malaysia moves into the next phase of industrialization and further integrates into the global economy, an area that is increasingly gaining momentum is strategic brand creating. Branding is important for companies intending to create a significant impact as well as gain and sustain a sizable market share in today’s competitive business environment.

One of the highlights of the Annual Dinner was the signing of the Strategic Alliance Partnerships with seven (7) smart partners. The presentation on the ITRC website: www.fmmprk-itrc.org highlighting the features and page contents was well received by members and the State Government. A product search portal is also available on this web site for SMEs to promote their products to the global market. The ITRC is also providing free posting of up to three (3) products on the ITRC catalogue for all members.
